How To Crush It With Facebook Ads in 2022

Want to know what’s REALLY working with Facebook and Instagram ads in 2022?

A lot has changed within the digital advertising landscape in the last year (we’re looking at you Apple iOS 14) and strategies that were crushing it just a few years ago are not working as well anymore.

That’s why it’s extremely important to stay on top of the latest trends and get ahead of the game.

I’ve noticed from working with hundreds of coaches, course creators, & service providers over the last year that the top 5 ad trends are...

  1. Lead Magnets & Webinars

Running ads to a landing page with a free opt-in or webinar still works extremely well with Facebook Ads.

The key is to make sure that your lead magnet is extremely irresistible and solution-oriented. You also need a solid follow-up and sales process to ensure that those leads convert into sales.

  2. Reels & IG Stories Ads

In some cases, my clients are seeing a 50% or more decrease in their ad costs by focusing on these placements & specific types of creative in their Facebook and Instagram ads.

The key is to make sure that your Reel or IG Stories Ad looks native to the platform and ties into a bigger marketing strategy beyond simply getting more views & engagement.

  3. Bigger, Broader Audiences

When it comes to targeting these days, the bigger the better (applies to both interest and Lookalike audiences.) This allows Facebook more room to “find your people” within your audience and saves you from doing as much work.

The key is to target interest audiences of at least 500k to 1 million or if you’re a local business, try to keep your audience as broad as possible above 100k.

  4. Conversion Objectives Ads

80% of the ads that my clients & I run are still conversion-based ads where we’re optimizing for leads or purchases. I’ve also found this produces a higher quality lead than using Facebook’s built-in Lead Forms, though it’s always something to test in your business.

The key here is to make sure that your Pixel is installed and conversion tracking is properly set up. You’ll also need to make sure that your domain has been verified for iOS 14 & aggregated events have been set up.

  5. Evergreen Marketing Strategies

I’ve always recommended focusing on evergreen strategies versus one time promotions but with iOS 14, it’s even more important now to play the long game with Facebook Ads.

The key here is to focus on ads you can run year-round (ex: list-building) so Facebook has more time to learn & gather data. You also need to give your ads more time to run when testing since there is a 3-day delay in the reporting period.
